Just Look at One!
There are many interesting things to study by looking carefully at one single antiparticle, like comparing its properties and behavior with the one of its twin particles. For example, does a proton weigh exactly the same as an antiproton?
Remember that it's
very tricky to study an antiparticle carefully. You have to:
- slow it down. You create antiparticles from high-energy collisions,
and they come out pretty fast, running everywhere!
- trap it somewhere, so you have the time to have a look at it;
- stop it bumping into any other particle while trapped, or it will disappear
!
